Alexa Will Soon Let You Pay For Gas With Your Voice
Voice assistants are capable of handling more and more aspects of our lives almost every day. Sometime this year, Alexa will be able to handle yet another skill. At more than 11,500 Exxon and Mobil stations, you'll be able to pay for your gas with a voice command. ExxonMobil and Fiserv created the Alexa skill.
If you say "Alexa, pay for gas" at a compatible location, the transaction will be processed via Amazon Pay using payment details you've stored in your Amazon account. You'll need to confirm the gas station location and which pump you’re using before Alexa completes the transaction. You’ll be able to carry out that process in cars with built-in Alexa, on Alexa-enabled phones and via other devices such as Echo Auto and Echo Buds.
There are of course myriad other ways to pay for gas — many pumps have contactless payment options available, for instance. That said, using a quick voice command to automatically prepare your payment while you're pulling up to the pump might get you out of the gas station a touch faster.
